り巻く環境と、IBMが取り組んでいるクラウドコンピューティ
ングの概要に触れ、中でもクラウド時代に求められるスケーラ
ビリティを支える分散データベース技術について掘り下げてご
紹介します。

Microsoft社のWindows Azureにおけるkey-value storeである
Azure Storage Table、および、Azure Services Platform の
SQL Data Servicesで提供されるデータサービスの概要を説明
し、既存のRDBMSベースの企業システムのアプリケーション、
Webサービスがどのように移行、展開されるか、また、Web 2.0
系の新たなアプリケーションに対する対応法を考える。
11:10-12:00 Programming the Cloud: The Internet as Platform
Gregor Hohpe (グーグル（株) ソフトウェアエンジニア）
The Internet has evolved from a collection of
hyperlinked documents to a full fledged programming
platform. Web service APIs, data feeds, and on-line
computing resources enable you to design, develop, test
and deploy applications without ever installing anything
on your local machine. Applications live in the cloud,
reachable from anywhere via a simple URL.
However, the world wide wonderland also brings new
issues and concerns. How do you write applications when
you don't even know where they will run? How do you best
access data stored in distributed data centers? How can
you ensure data consistency when ACID-style transactions
are not supported?
Gregor Hohpe will share thoughts on what it means to
program the cloud and explain design principles used to
build Google's Web infrastructure. He will then show how
these technologies support Google's cloud products,
Google App Engine and Google Data API's.

ICDE2009 の報告を行ないます。報告の前半では、会議全体の
概要の他、キーノート、パネルのみどころ、また、Best Paper
Award, Student Best Paper Award を受賞した論文を紹介しま
す。
